RobCo Launches First Modular XL Lightweight Robot: Up to 40 kg Payload For Flexible Automation in Mid-Sized Companies.
Broader Range of Production Lines with Reduced Staff Strain
Munich, 18 November 2024 – RobCo, a leading provider of modular, affordable, and connected robotic automation solutions, has introduced its first XL-format modular robot, catering to companies requiring greater payload capacity and extended reach within their manufacturing processes. The new robot can handle a payload of 20 kg with a reach of 2.1 metres, or up to 40 kg at a reach of 1.1 metres. Integrated with the new AI-powered automation system, RobVision, the XL robot can also operate flexibly and autonomously in unstructured and dynamic environments, thanks to advanced computer vision and machine learning technologies. This eliminates the need for constant reprogramming or further human intervention.
In the SME manufacturing industry, the demand for flexible and powerful automation solutions is becoming increasingly urgent. Labour shortages and the need for maximum efficiency make it essential to adopt solutions that not only meet technical requirements but also ease the workload on staff. In response, RobCo has come up with an innovation that is specially tailored to the needs of these companies: the first XL modular lightweight robot capable of handling payloads of up to 40 kg.
Expanded Production Capabilities Amid Ongoing Labour Shortages
The increased payload capacity of modular robots offers substantial advantages, particularly to SMEs. Primarily, it enables straightforward handling, such as the easy palletising of heavier components, allowing for more efficient processes and reducing the need for manual intervention. Additionally, the XL module provides maximum flexibility, effortlessly adapting to changing requirements. This boosts productivity and lowers operational costs, as RobCo offers an excellent value-for-money proposition alongside a flexible leasing model that minimises initial investment costs. Higher payload robots can undertake a broader spectrum of tasks, facilitating greater variability and flexibility in production and enabling companies to respond more readily to changing demands. Another significant benefit is the reduction in physically demanding tasks for employees, positively impacting workplace safety. This proactive approach helps firms address the challenges posed by persistent labour shortages, where available skilled workers for heavy-duty tasks are often limited. Robots with greater payload capacities can support by handling repetitive, physically taxing, and potentially hazardous tasks, allowing staff to focus on more valuable, creative, and problem-solving roles. Thanks to the no-code approach, integration into existing processes is fast and seamless, requiring no extensive training or external programmers.
“Especially during times of persistent labour shortages, larger modular robots with high payload capacity are invaluable for SMEs,” emphasises Roman Hölzl, CEO and co-founder of RobCo. “This significant expansion of our product portfolio marks another important step towards our goal of market leadership in modular robotics for SMEs in Europe. It enables us to support more industries and assist the SME sector in addressing ongoing workforce challenges effectively.”
