Modular robots - What is that?

However, industrial robots from well-known manufacturers are a big investment for SMEs and have the disadvantage that they can usually only be used for one order.

We at RobCo have developed the world's first modular industrial robot for SMEs, combining the advantages of a cobot with the performance of an industrial robot. Thanks to the modular design of our robots, individual customer requirements are no problem, even with small batch sizes. RobCo robots learn work processes quickly and easily so that they can relieve your employees of repetitive tasks and use them profitably elsewhere. In this way, you not only increase your company's productivity, but also improve the quality of your product.

What does modular robot mean?

With our modular robots, you can assemble your robot the way you need it. If you need the robot for several lines in one day or complete an order, you can reorder the corresponding modules and convert and retrain the robot yourself. This means that our Allin-One robot solution takes over a variety of production steps in the long term. Because for almost every application, our module catalog puts together the right robot: No matter how many axes you need or which range is relevant to you.

With our modular robotics, you always have the right robot that can flexibly take on other, new tasks. Should the robot then take on another task? No problem: It can be installed on a mobile platform as required and can tackle a new task in just a few steps. Our service team will also help you with this at least once a year, free of charge. If you are not sure whether you want to rely on robotics permanently and therefore do not want to buy a robot, you also have the option our robots for rent.

Benefits of a modular robot

Our robots work according to Plug-and-play principle. This means that they can simply be assembled from modules and then create a digital twin of themselves — and can therefore be used immediately. Select the relevant modules from our modular system and configure your robot individually with up to 8 motor modules to meet your needs. That means they have over 1,000 different combinations. If your requirements change, you can upgrade with new modules at any time and continue using the robot. The individual module parts communicate intelligently with each other using integrated sensors. For example, they do not have to retrain a new, longer robotic arm, but it can take over the previous work sequence from the previous arm. The robot's digital twin also allows you to analyze and optimize work processes, for example by analyzing the power consumption of each individual module.

The ability to reuse the same modules in various combinations for a wide range of applications extends the useful life of the modular robot up to 15 years. As a result, the robot no longer has a linear life cycle, but an almost circular life cycle is created in which a wide variety of modules can be combined and replaced.

Success Story with Frank Präzisionsstelle: Increasing Machine Capacity

After implementing RobCo, the company saw immediate improvements in its production capacity and efficiency. Output rose from 90 parts per day to 140 parts per day/night, which represents a significant increase. Capacity utilization has been increased from around 8-10 hours to 24 hours, which means that the machines are now running around the clock.
